Live survey
The most recent UK Heritage Pulse survey looked at heritage crime.
According to the National Police Chiefs’ Council, heritage crime is defined as ‘Any offence involving damage or loss to the historic environment, including all offences involving cultural property’.
The problem manifests through things like architectural theft (particularly metal and stone), criminal damage including vandalism and graffiti, poaching, the theft of objects from collections, unlawful metal detecting known as ‘nighthawking’, anti-social behaviour such as fly-tipping, and unauthorised works impacting buildings or protected species.
The results of this research are available here.
The next Heritage Pulse survey will be available in January.
